Events Crew provides full series support to HSBC Lets Ride

The British cycling series 'Lets Ride' is a fourteen event community engagement project that takes place in cities across the UK and is supported by the sponsorship of HSBC.

Efficiency both in cost and in time were demanded by the event management staff and consistency of set up from city to city was key for each stakeholder.

Events Crew were approached in 2017 to consider playing an integral part in the 2018 series and were subsequently appointed to provide logistical support for the transportation, installation, storage and management of a number of key assets required to build each events hub(s).

Originally operating to a format similar to former contractors of previous seasons, Events Crew soon identified a number of inefficiencies in that format and so set about streamlining the operation. Amending transportation requirements from two lorries to one lorry by identifying the correct trailer for the task was a major example of this, and as a result the cost savings from this alone were significant for the client across the series.

Events Crew also took over the responsibility for the safe installation of the British Cycling stretch tent. By enlisting the services of a crew chief from an established rigging company, Events Crew were able to again reduce costs for the client whilst also maintaining high standards of installation. Incorporating the logistics of all of the ballast and rigging gear for the structure as well as for the crew chief into Events Crews program of work, we were able to provide a better experience for the management and all-round install process of the structure for the client.

It soon became the case that the ability of Events Crew to solve problems as they presented themselves was invaluable to the event management. Just one example of this would be as the heat wave of the summer settled over the UK, Events Crew were able to bring a safe drinking water source to every site in the series without further compounding the issue of single use plastics. Events Crews water bowsers were utilised in event villages and participants of all ages would fill their water bottles a number of times from easy to use taps. Participant safety and welfare was of particular concern in the heat and the water bowsers formed an important part of resolving some of the issues that presented themselves.

Following the completion of the 2018 series, Events Crew received very positive feedback from all stakeholders and are very much now looking forward to further work with the Event Management team.
